On Complexity
Episode Description
My journey into Complexity was sparked by the distinction between systemic and special causes, a concept rooted in scientific management. This distinction, as I understood it, was further enriched by Gell-Mann's 'The Quark and the Jaguar'. While there is a wealth of information on complexity, I believe others may have a more comprehensive understanding to share.
The practical implications of this distinction became evident when discussing scenarios where expertise alone would not suffice. Recognizing that we often lack a comprehensive understanding, particularly in advance, necessitates a different approach to engaging with the situation, sparking new avenues of thought and action.
